It's hard being a parent

There's moments where I feel really inadequate being a parent. I've done my fair share of babysitting neighborhood kids, nephew and nieces while growing up. Reading books, blogs, ect. But the truth is nothing can fully prepare you for parenthood. Yesterday and today have been one of those days that I don't feel like such a great mom. I know we can't fix every thing or stop everything from happening but it doesn't change those feelings. Especially being pregnant....those dang hormones.

Yesterday after church we went to Mary's GG's house for dinner like we normally do. After eating Mary wanted me to go in to the front room with her. She wanted to sit on the rocking chair. I was tired, we have 12:30 church and was ready for nap. Sitting on the couch closest to her watching her rock and playing on my phone awaiting our time to go home so I could sleep Mary decided to really go for it rocking on the rocking chair. I warned her once to not do it that she could fall back and get hurt. She listened then decided to do it again and not being quick enough to catch her she fell face forward hitting her mouth perfectly on the edge of the coffee table. After seeing blood Ryan and I took her to the bathroom to wash her off and take a look. I could never be in the medical field. I don't do blood, or cuts or anything like that. After seeing her lip was split open I wanted to cry. Ryan told me to stay calm for Mary to keep her calm. So I put my mommy big girl panties on took a breath and held her while Ryan got our things together. After one trip to the insta care, 5 hours at Primary Children's hospital and 6 stitches later, a trip to our neighbor dentist who put her front teeth back in place we came home and put the poor girl to bed.

She was such a trooper, wow. I mean seriously for being a two year in that situation she was a total champ. We all laughed while she was getting her stitches because she was given some anesthetic and was loopy and would praise herself after the nurse told her good job for staying so still and playing on the ipad. She has been playing and talking like she normally does. She's super swollen and we'll get x rays on her teeth later this week to see if there is any major damage. ugh...I really hope they're ok. Her gums are black and blue so only soft foods and smoothies for a little while.

I can't stop rewinding what happened, wishing I was faster, that I was sitting on the floor next to her rather than the couch, that I didn't even let her get on the rocking chair at all. Like I said these dang hormones. I'm grateful that it wasn't worse and she's doing so well. Enough of my pity party, time to put on my mommy big girl panties on again ;)

The pictures really don't do it justice, her bottom lip was just kinda hanging before the stitches.

After getting her stitches, they did a really good job.

This was after taking some baby IBU, her swelling was getting really bad and she wouldn't let me put ice on her lip or face. When she talks her mouth is a bit crooked. Wish I could get better pics. She is still our little cutie, and grateful it wasn't worse.

Taken this morning 2/18. quite the shiner on her eye!

Cupid made his way over to our place leaving MJ some treats and a gift.

Her hair is finally long enough for a side pony tail with lots of gel and hair spray ;)

what we've been up to

MJ absolutely LOVES playing with her cousins, she always asking to play with them by name and adores them especially. One of my sisters just lives about 15 minutes away from me so we took advantage one day to go hang out.

Spaghetti and animal crackers for dinner... as Mary will say "Deeeeeee licious!"

She loves her back pack that I bought for our trip to fly back east in October. She always puts it on and say ''ok bye bye, I got to school!" hilarious
GNO getting a treat of frozen yogurt
A few of my girl friends who have babies got together for one last hoo rah before the Fullers left for Cali. Funny part is starting with Mary their birthdays are November, June, November, and yes June again.
Hugs and kisses for Jack! she sure misses her little friend
I forgot to take a photo before Megan left so it's just us 3 girls
One last big hug goodbye. Seriously so cute.
You can't tell all that well in this photo but Mary decided after she was done eating that she'd give herself a yogurt face mask.
Quite the fashionista... she picked out her outfit and feathered clip
Shame shame on mama for falling asleep and leaving Mary to find the markers..
How can you get upset at that cute little face, she sure makes it hard to say no to as well

blast from the past

Who are those skinny little youngins?! To celebrate this month I found this photo of Ryan and I on our first date. High School Valentines dance and yes it was alien themed some how. So awesome right?
Can not believe I have known this guy for 12 years holy moly. My little twitter pated sixteen year old self sure did have a major crush on him. And here we are now married with a darling toddler and baby on the way.    Happy Valentines month to you all! xoxo

Oh where oh where have you gone?

Ok energy, I am in the 2nd trimester which is supposed to mean you aren't tired anymore right?
Wrongo with this kiddo! It seems that I'm almost every day tired at about 4:00 pm.  Today after Ryan left for school I was so dang tired I physically couldn't keep my eyelids open any longer. So I turned on some netflix for MJ and allowed myself a little nap on the couch next to her. Well what did my little one do while I was resting? She found her stash of hidden dum dum suckers and opened about 6 or 7 of them and when I woke up looks at her with those innocent big brown eye and says ''mommy, yummy suckers!" I just had to laugh and wash her sticky hands and face off letting her finish at least one of them. Looks like I need to find a better spot for her suckers.

This girl... is obsessed with wearing her fairy dress whenever possible and looking at her baby pictures/videos on our phones. She is just too funny.
And that book she is holding is a staple every evening before bed time. Her awesome grandparents who are like my second mom and dad gave it to her when we informed them we were getting rid of the binky cold turkey a couple of months ago. Book found HERE
These two aren't related at all...haha
And might I had she can get some pretty sweet bed head.

Granny and MJ at Uncle Kelly's memorial, it has been one year since his
tragic death. I'll forever always remember him thinking he was just so cool
and very talented musically. I'm grateful for the tender mercies of our Father in Heaven.

MJ hanging out with someone her own size, isn't he the cutest.
Life is short, too short. What makes the hard times a little less hard
is having an amazing family. I have been so blessed to part of this incredible family.
The sun was shining, it was such a beautiful day. Those who spoke did it beautifully. I'm so grateful to have been able to be there and feel so much love.

15 weeks

This pregnancy is going by so quickly!! With the anticipation of having Mary, time moved like molasses. I couldn't wait for that little e-mail update each week to tell me the news of our little ones growth and changes in me. Now before I know that that e-mail arrives earlier then I expected it.

How far along: 15 weeks
Gender: no clue but I'm fairly certain boy this time around!
Maternity Clothes: no just wearing leggings and other stretchy pants. Bring on Spring and maxi skirts!
Stretch Marks: only the ones MJ so kindly gave me
Weight gain/loss: Down 8 pounds. I seriously have no appetite and when I am hungry I can only eat as much as a small child. I get filled quickly. No complaining here!
Cravings: This kid is a carnivore. Give me meat and potatoes, burgers, pork. Get in my belly!
Sleep: Not the greatest, nothing to do with this babe but MJ has decided since she got sick after Christmas that she only wants to sleep in our bed which means she screams in bed for an hour or so and then will wake up at 3/4/5:00 in the morning and makes her way into our bed so we can get a few more hours of shut eye. This will hopefully stop sooner then later because once this belly gets really big there wont be any room left for her in our bed.
Best moment this week: Eating Cafe Rio twice in one week. So. Dang. Good. this baby loves meat.
Belly button in or out: Always in, That was one thing I had hoped for in pregnancy was to get an outie. I have a MAJOR innie and always hated it.
Wedding ring on or off: On
Happy or Moody: Happy, with the exception of once this last week I was starving and not a happy camper to see that our left over pizza was gonzo. Hubby got an apology after...
Looking forward to: Feeling movement and if Mary will have a little brother or sister!
